Insights into the structure and surface geology of balanced and retrodeformed geological cross sections from the Nizampur basin, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan

Abstract The current research work is an attempt to apply the basic geological procedures, methods of mapping, surface and subsurface interpretation restoration balanced retrodeformed cross sections from Nizampur basin, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. also includes documentation several structural features, i.e., anticlines, synclines different types folds faults exposed in vicinity study area. Four central thrust were recognized named as Kahi Thrusts along sections. These carried older sequences rocks over younger portion measured section. folded faulted area show that stratigraphic framework comprises Eocene, Paleocene, Cretaceous Jurassic succession rocks. There are Eocene existing extreme South mapped with addition contains simple large-scale folds, back thrust. Two transect which encounter faults, X-sections AB oriented NS CD NE-SW. Restoration transects was calculated assumed at formation Main Boundary Thrust, tectonic forces prognosticated 19.5% shortening rock section A_B.
